FAQ
Here you can find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our company, products, and services below.
How Do Mohair Rugs Differ from Regular Rugs?
Mohair rugs differ from regular rugs in texture and structure. Made from Angora goat wool, mohair rugs are uniquely soft, light, and flexible. In contrast, regular oriental rugs, often made from materials like sheep's wool or synthetic fibers, are thicker, heavier, and more rigid. Mohair rugs are crafted on a loom, which gives them a looser weave and a distinct, luxurious texture. It’s part of the unique character of mohair rugs that they are not as dense and thick as traditional oriental rugs; instead, they are thinner and lighter. To enhance both comfort and functionality, each mohair rug is permanently fitted with an Oeko-Tex 100 certified rug pad, providing added slip resistance and comfort. Despite their softness, our mohair rugs are designed to be durable and versatile, suitable for a variety of spaces, including areas with moderate foot traffic
How to maintain my rug?
Regular Vacuuming: It's important to vacuum your mohair rug frequently to keep it looking its best. However, avoid using the vacuum's brushes in the “outward position,” as this could pull at the fibers and damage the rug. Always vacuum in the direction of the pile—run your hand over the rug to determine this; the pile will feel smooth in the correct direction and rough if you’re going against it.
Furniture Movement: To preserve the integrity of your mohair rug, avoid dragging furniture across it. This can cause unnecessary wear and tear.
Use of Rug Pad: We highly recommend placing a rug pad underneath your mohair rug. This not only minimizes wear but also prevents the rug from sliding, providing added safety and preserving the flooring beneath it. Additionally, the rug pad helps with sound absorption and is compatible with floor heating systems.
Handmade Variations: Since all our mohair rugs are handmade, slight variations in size—typically within +/- 3% of the listed dimensions—are normal and add to the unique character of each piece.
Compatibility with Floor Heating: All ANIGORAH® mohair rugs are designed to be used with floor heating systems, ensuring comfort and luxury throughout your home. The included rug pad is also compatible with floor heating, enhancing both comfort and safety.

How can I care for my Mohair rug if it gets stained?
For minor spills or stains, act quickly to blot the area with a clean, dry cloth to absorb as much liquid as possible. Then, gently dab with a cloth dampened with water and a small amount of wool-safe detergent. Avoid rubbing, as this can spread the stain and damage the fibers. If the stain persists, please consult a professional rug cleaner.
Are your rugs environmentally friendly?
Yes, we are committed to sustainability. Our mohair rugs are made from natural fibers and are produced using eco-friendly methods. We prioritize sustainable practices throughout our production process to minimize our environmental impact. Please see the About Us section.
